Whilst on this site, and must admit that I haven't been on for weeks now, as my husband is still very ill and the worst patient ever !! (and I'm not much cop at the nursing bit either !)
I had a call from Denise , who runs "Dogwatch" in Sutton Coldfield, and she told me that there was a 6 year old in commercial kennels locally, he had been in there, with a companion Yorkie for 4 YEARS, in fact since his owner died 4 yers ago and the husband has been paying for him all these years, and saying that it was what his wife would have wanted !!!!!!
This poor dog has pancreatitus, and is on medication, and is so institutionised now that a new home has been very hard to find.
His 'owner', has been persuaded by Dogwatch to let us home him, so guess what ? an amazing lady who has had 3 from me before over the years, has taken him on, she has a place in the country, with horses and a Border Collie friendly bitch.
Well, so far so good, but he is as thin as a rake with no coat, just fluff. He is visiting the Vet today for a complete check-up (I hope his ex-owner will pay for this, otherwise it is Marilyn help!) and I have arranged for my very dear friend Maggi marshall to go and check him out, so we have a complete picture. and if my Ted gets better and I can get to see my Mum soon, I will visit Jo who has him, as it is only 25 miles from Ross-on-Wye.
did I mention she lives in Abbergaveny?
This is another heartbreaking storey that bloody human beings are responsible for causing frightful pain and hardship to one of our precious friends. but don't worry, if blame can be attributed to anyone I will have their guts for garters.
I will keep you in the picture when I have Maggi's and the Vets report but if anyone can fix this lad, Jo and her partner can. sheila x |

Thank the Lord that there are people like you and Jo out there to help this poor lad. What news of the Yorkie?
Love and best wishes to you, Ted and your lovely Mum. |

Sharon, the Yorkie has also been homed and he was as thin as our boy, trouble is with taking this further, what will happen ? if Moyrag only got what she got for the devastation she caused 14 Briards and numerous others, what would this chap and the kennels get ? and it is all SO upsetting for me and the new owners. With the year Iv'e had, I think I will just thank the gods that we have them in our control and they will ahve new wonderful loves and lives. however, if anyone wants to take them on, send me a private e m !
Brodie has been checked out by Maggie for us and he is a lovely boy, his temperament is wonderful, but he is so thin and quite poorly from the pancreatitus, but he has been to the Vet who now has it under control. Joy and her partner are cherishing him already, and their bitch is bossing him, which he LOVES !!!, and he has a new coat to keep him warm as his own coat is non-exsistant, it looks like he may have hip-dysplastia in one hip, he is quite lame, but this could be living in prison-like conditions for 4 years, but his future is now very very rosy. That news should cheer everyone up ! she x (p.s., sorry about the spelling,Paul, is there a spell-check on this website ?) it would help this old fogey! |

Thanks for the update Sheila. The way I try to cope with stories like this and those when I step in to help animals is to look forward and not dwell on what has past. You drive yourself insane if you keep thinking about what they have been through. Be proud of what you have done and think of the lovely life they will hopefully go on to have.
If Joy and family have the time it would be nice to hear from them. |

Hi
firstly its Jo not Joy lol, my names Tom and with Jo we have took on a lovely blonde Briard called brodie, i say blonde as he is very blonde, he is getting on well with Tye our border collie and has found his bark, his new home has plenty of room and his very own lounge has a big rug and a log burner, he has claimed my workshop, and loves the attention h is getting off us all, his mood has definately lifted from when h first arrived, he plays like a puppy, its as if that his time in the kennels put his life on hold and now he is picking up from where he left off, he is so loving and cuddly, yes he is very skinny, weighed him monday at 31kg and he should be 45 to 50kg, he has a ferocious appetite and he didnt drink for the first couple of days but is now drinking happily and splashing the floor of my workshop, his walk is getting better as he uses his muscles, didnt get a lot of use locked up in kennels, Thankyou everyone for finding a pal like brodie as we lost our black briard in august of this year his name was Thomas, Brodie is definately keeping his memory alive
Thankyou and merry christmas to you all
ps Brodie sends his regards and hugs
Tom,Jo,Brodie and lovely Tye |

Great to hear how you are all getting on Tom, thanks for taking the time. Brodie has certainly landed on his paws and how great is Tye to have accepted Brodie so readily?
Sorry to read that you lost Thomas this year it is such a wrench when they leave us. But it seems that Brodie is helping you wonderfully well. |
