Hi Linda,

Ralph does this as well. Especially if I go out without him. I'm not sure if he's telling me everything my neighbours have been doing, or telling me off for leaving him.
Does Jasper do this in the middle of the night though? Ralph has always 'talked' but its when he does it in the early hours of the morning... it makes me jump out of my skin!

Amber use to mumble to herself if she couldn't get her own way, or if she had been told off. Laughing

Oh yes!!

Sirius pud has earned the nickname "Grumble-bum!" Wink

He grumbles and mumbles to himself if he dosen't get his own way, or if his stout is not poured at exactly 9pm! He also grumbles on the back seat of the car as he insists on sitting on my knee!! He is a bloomin' big dog!! and he has no concept whatsoever, that he is not a puppy anymore! Shocked

Our Roxy is eight soon, and the same here a big yawn and a grumble. She walks really slowly if she's been told off. The howling at anyone on the drive hasn't stopped yet!

Fleur and Bonbon do the contented mumbling when they lay down; have come back from a good romp or been fed. Bonbon also speaks (not a bark) when you talk to her in a silly voice. I am sure is swearing at me sometimes Laughing

all the dogs i have owened over the years have been clever.
jasper being a briard seems very different. very intelegent yet stupid Laughing

and of course the deep i am a big dog bark Shocked Confused Laughing Rolling Eyes
but scared of a TRAFFIC CONE.
YOU JUST GOTTA LOVE THESE DOGS.
Hubby was looking for him the other night and jasper was standing behind him. i think jasper was playing him up. it was facsinating to watch the devilment in jaspers eyes. Surprised

Ha! Devilment in the eyes! Don't we all know about that! Hugo has it when he's just stuck his face in mud and is on his way to wipe it on my legs.
He also does a huge sigh with some lip-smacking when he is going to sleep and he sings along to various theme tunes. He hasn't yet reached the grumbling stage, but I expect him to develop it later in life like Oscar did whenever he was told off. Both of them have been prone to very loud, drawn-out, attention-seeking yawns.

Olive only talks when she sees another dog while out walking. She takes cover between me and my partner and keeps up a funny, whiny, growly sort of conversation until we get past it. Lots of folk laugh at it, it sounds so silly.
