This is where experience and the ability not to panic until all the facts come to life, are invaluable!
I had this call from one of my rescue home-givers in Plymouth, telling me that 2 Briards, one fawn, one black had turned up in a Dogs Home in Plympton.
Well, numerous messages and calls followed to no avail, so i called another friend who does Bouvier rescue in Plymouth to check it out for me, and guess what ? it is one Pyrenean and the other a Newfoundland !!!
The numer of times me or a rpresentative have gone on wide goose chases only to find a dear 'shaggy dog' when we get to the dogs home, let alone pedigree breeds, looking nothing like our Briards.
I almost put out an S O S on this site yesterday, but decided to wait. good job too eye? Just thought you might like to hear this story.
I would normally get in touch with Michelle in Devon, but with her dreadful news about Maddy, and the new pup coming in this week, i obviously didn't bother her. She is another member who is always there for me and the rescue.
I do have a 5 year old boy going to friends Mark and Marita in Wiltshire, this weekend, mostly for assessment, but if he gets on with their dogs, then who knows ? The breeder is un-known as he belonged to a French lady who left him with her ex-partner, so no help there then from the breeder. Fingers crossed for this one. Mark is a member here so I expect he will keep you all informed, dogs name "Armstrong" (!)

Glad Sheila it was a false alarm. Armstrong what a great name for a Briard. Hope you and yours are well.

Armstrong doesnt seem such an unusual name, doesnt Dollybug on here have an Armstrong too! knowing where Sheila is coming from via the name, he must be strong willed, dominant and aukward. God bless his name sake Mr A A. Never forgotten as of course it was Ann Kennett's anniversay around the time of Windsor show too.

Sorry, but Armstrong is an awful name. It really doesn't roll off the tongue when you're trying to get his attention.

It can't be shortened, and I wouldn't be so cruel as to call him Lance or Neil.

Cheers
Mark

I still think Brian would be a great name for a briard.

Good thing for Ed he was 3 when I got him, or he might have had a name change to deal with!

Maybe next time...

Good work Sheila, and nice to see everybody keeping their ear to the ground, even if it turns out to be false alarm.
Talking about names - my beardie cross is called Webster, got him when he was 3 so felt I couldn't change it and he was registered with KC. I did agility shows with him and entry forms were a nightmare as his full registered name is - wwwdotwebsterdotcodotuk (!!). Needless to say, when checking off at ringside I would get a strange look from the steward and a "yes, well...." I always felt compelled to add it wasn't my choice.
