It has been a very sad 24 hours in our home. Our beloved 8 year old Archie had been off colour the last few days, no appetite, lethargic and heavy breathing. He underwent tests at the vets yesterday and unfortunately showed tumours on his liver which were leaking and causing huge problems with his circulatory system. The vet informed us that these were inoperable and in the few short hours that we had dropped him off he had deteriorated rapidly. My husband and i made the hardest decision to put him to sleep and were with him giving him loads of cuddles and kisses at the end. He was our pride and joy and everyone in our town of Prestwick knew him as that "big dug" or "shetland pony Archie". Our house is a very quiet one just now but we have loads of happy and wonderful memories of him; we loved him so much and will miss him every day. It was a privilege to have had 8 wonderful years with him, he was a truly a gentle giant and was a huge heart wrapped in fur.

Oh so sorry to hear your sad news. Really feel for you.
Oscar had to be put to sleep when he was bleeding internally from lesions on his liver. Our only consolation was that he didn't have to suffer a long illness because he became ill overnight, and we didn't have to agonise over the decision to let him go because, within a few days, the vet said it was the only option.
They're not here for long enough and they leave a gaping hole in our lives. Hope your many wonderful memories are a comfort to you at this heart-breaking time.

Helen, we're so sorry to hear about Archie. As you know, we lost Ed, Archie's brother, back in June and we know only too well how much you must be missing him. We're thinking of you at this sad time.
