Why is it that you never have a camera ready when you need it!!

This morning Zeta was lying outside (not too hot not too wet) when a Red Admiral butterfly landed on his nose!! He didn't seem to notice it and it didn't move even when I got close, he sat up and it still stayed there. it's wings were open and would have made such a brilliant picture, but no camera to hand!!

really cheered me up after the terrible weather we are having lately.

This is not briard-related, although Hugo was around somewhere, but once, when I was picking blackcurrants in the garden, a baby jay launched itself at me, then parked itself next to me, flapping its wings to be fed! I fed it a blackcurrant, then some food from the bird feeders - it just took the food out of my hand. I looked around frantically for anyone to witness this amazing experience, but sadly, only I know it happened!
