It is with a heavy heart I write this post as my beloved Bryn crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday . As those of you who saw my posts he had kidney failure and his results were very bad. Initially we were to start him on diet and meds but before I got to the vet to pick this up he deteriorated very quickly with rapid weight loss drowsiness, sickness and general weakness. We took the view that it would be unfair to try to persuade him to eat special food and take meds for very questionable short term benefit. He had a quiet last 48hrs ,still padding about after me, getting the odd treat of cocktail sausages and cheese and slept on our bed for 2 nights - something he never usually would do when hubby was at home. There were loads of cuddles and meaningful conversations and just after 11o'clock the vet came and he slipped away peacefully on the lounge sofa - his favourite piece of furniture for relaxing!
As you will all appreciate there is a huge hole in our hearts and Breagh the beardie is missing him.Thank you to all who sent advice and encouragement when I wrote about his illness -he is at peace now and I have no doubt fighting over toys with his old friend Tess who crossed the bridge in March this year. It has been a privilege and a joy to have him in our family and we have so many happy memories of him which will help us through the current tears .

Yvonne
so sorry for your loss, sometimes the best decisions are so often are the hardest and seem to be the cruelest to make.
Time is a great healer but you never ever forget.
I can guarantee that tears will flow in great torrents but he will soon be in your thoughts everyday, and you will eventually be able to laugh and remember all the good things and all his naughty things.

Oh Yvonne, how dreadful for you! It doesn't matter how poorly he was, nothing can prepare you for losing him. Hope you can take some comfort in the fact that you bravely let him go to spare him from suffering. He will live on in your many happy memories. Thinking of you.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who sent messages on the thread and privately expressing your sympathy on Bryns passing.I have found them all such a comfort and will continue to do so for a long time to come. The large empty space in the house and our lives remains -it is less than 2 weeks since he left us but feels like yesterday but you all know how that feels.
With much love and my thanks again to one and all
Yvonne x
