With deep sadness I have to tell you that we lost Ross yesterday. Some of you will know from my previous posts that he was diagnosed with kidney disease back in February. Things were touch and go for him for a while but after a stay at the vet's to wash through his kidneys he picked up. That and a special diet carefully researched and lovingly cooked each day by hubby gave him another 6 weeks good quality time with us. Sadly, however, he started to go downhill again about a week ago. Another kidney washout didn't help and yesterday we had to make the agonising decision that it was kinder to let him go as nothing further could be done.

We are, of course, devastated. The hole he has left in our lives is huge. Poor Lulu is wandering around looking lost and we feel rather like that ourselves.

Sleep tight big boy, you will be in our hearts for ever.

When you've come to the conclusion that it's kinder to let them go, it's always the right choice, the last selfless act you can do for them. It's such a hard time for you now when the grief is so intense and there are reminders of him everywhere. Hope your many happy memories help you through this very sad time. Thinking of you. xxx

Crying or Very sad Pauline, I am so sorry, but he had a good last few weeks with you.
It is never easy. Hugs to you & your family & Lulu too.
Run free at the Bridge Ross, in the sunshine, until you are one day re-united with your loved ones xx

Thank you all so much for your posts and for the private messages we've received. Your messages have been so moving and it has helped us through this sad time to know there are so many kind and supportive friends out there.

Yesterday I collected Ross's ashes and this weekend we will finally lay him to rest in his favourite spot in the garden. RIP big boy. We will never forget you.
