Neil and i are sorry to announce that Neena left us to join Bailey over the Rainbow Bridge today.
She joined Neil and i from Nicola Jacobs Pearce in 2008. We had six wonderful years with her , and in those six years she herself became mother to 5 beautiful puppies.
She entertained us every evening, singing along with her daughter Freya to The Emmerdale theme tune and Coronation street. There wasn't a day go past that she would make us laugh or smile in some small way.She shared her bed with her daughter Freya , they groomed each other and were rarely apart. It was Freya's barking that alerted us to Neena's sudden spiral downhill.
As a youngster she was a fabulous show girl and was exhibited at Crufts.
Neena however decided that being a beauty queen was not the life for her and preferred long walks in beautiful countryside , being covered in sticky balls and water.
She was poorly last year when she had 3 growths removed and 2 mammary glands.she recovered well tho and was soon fully back in charge at home.
Neena left us with very little warning and we still have very few answers, However, we may learn more in time.At the moment we are all numb and still can't comprehend that she won't flood the kitchen floor from the water fountain and cart all of her beloved toys in at any minute.
Rest in peace sweet , beautiful girl you will remain in our hearts forever.

How terrible to lose her so suddenly. She will have left a massive hole in your lives. So sorry you have to go through this. Hope all the joy she brought you far outweighs the pain you are feeling right now. Thinking of you.

it was with shock that I saw Neena's name in never forgotten, as we have her brother Leo. It is far to young to loose your beautiful hairy hound. Hold tight to your happy memories and Freya. Thinking of you at this sad time. X

So much too young. So so sorry for you all.

There does seem to be a lot of cancer around. A request to breeders please please take a look at the lines and try to breed away from 'problem' dogs however 'good' they are. In the light of knowledge from social websites etc I'm sure it's possible to see some patterns. My friend who has wolf hounds said they have had terrible problems because a wonderful stud dog 'spread' cancer far and wide. Anything breeders can do to extend the lives of our furry friends has to be a good thing.

Dear. Jayne and Neil,
So sad to read about your beautiful girl Neena, and she was so young.
She'll always be in your hearts and at your side. I bet freya will be lost without her.

Neena's death was extremely quick. She was chasing her squashed ball and ate a good tea and her bedtime gravy bone. There was no indication that she was ill in any way.when her lumps were removed last year, whilst each was of a different type all were benign ..at that time .As far as we are aware at the moment there were no others.
Initially, like you do, we suspected bloat as her tummy was big. The out of hour vets were there to greet us as we arrived because we alerted them this was a possibility. However it was not the case . It was not A Torsion or PYO.
However she passed away in less than 2 hours.
For that reason we are having a post mortem done. The vets had never seen a presentation like it before and they even called out the practice manager for his opinion, he too had seen nothing like it.
We are awaiting results of toxicology and pathology tests. She was vaccinated. I think it would be wrong to speculate it is anything in the line or cancer at the present time.
Thank you for your kind remaks at this difficult and very sad time.

Thank you for this update. Hoping you do discover the reason behind Neena's death. It's difficult enough losing a loved one (we, too, lost a Briard at the age of 6) but then having the question of "why" on top of that.....
Best of luck and please keep us informed.

It does seem best that you find out why she died so young, it's very brave of you. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Take care Gail and Lola
