Briard Training day
When 21/9/2019
Where Washington Memorial Hall, RH20 4AP, Sussex
The committee of the British Briard Club have very kindly agreed to sponsor this event, the details of which you may have seen in the last edition of the Double Dew Claw. We have had very little response and so we must, within the next two weeks decide if we should cancel the day or continue to plan events. This day is free to all and open to everyone who is interested in learning about living with Briards whether you are British Briard Club members or not.

Last year a group of us felt that there was a need for our club to do more towards helping owners or potential owners to understand Briards and how to have a happy Briard as a member of your family. The spectrum of views of Briards goes from seeing our lovely breed as big cuddly dogs or dogs that can show marked guarding traits. They are not the easiest dogs but when in the right hands and the right home with loving owners, the reward and love they give can be second to none. We know how wonderful they are but also the challenges so we would love to have a fun but informative day to show how to manage, train and have a happy Briard.

We were (and are still) hoping that this day we have arranged in September will be of help to those of you considering having a Briard, those of you who have got your first puppy or anyone who wants to have a day with experienced Briard owners to have a bit of fun and get some hints and tips for happy living within and outside the home with our lovely dogs.

If the day goes ahead we will have experienced owners on hand for you to talk with, there will be a short talk about the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme, a demonstration and a chance for you and your dog to take the bronze level. You will be able to try beginners agility, heel work to music and Rally Obedience. There will be a session on clicker training by Di Morgan who is a highly qualified Canine Behaviour and dog training expert.

If you are interested in coming along for the day you must let us know, please, by Wednesday 21st August and if there is enough interest we will be delighted to continue sorting out the day’s events. You can send a comment, private message or e mail us at [email protected] or [email protected]
